Surely a sight to be seen, this Nissan Skyline R34 GTT has it all, low mileage, a laundry list of quality modifications, creature comforts, that iconic R34 look, and to top it off, all wrapped in a beautiful color. The R34 was and still is a highly respected, and perhaps the most sought after model of the Skyline lineage. Introduced in the early months of 1998, the R34 took the automotive world by storm, shocking enthusiasts with its incredible leaps and bounds in modernity. Most changes were focused around the engine and body redesign, leaving a lasting image on the Skyline family tree, even today.
The most notable changes came from the redesign of the RB25 engine that has been driving Skyline’s for years. The R34 was equipped with the new RB25DET NEO, which came with an increase in power, reliability, and fuel efficiency. The biggest changes included a slightly larger turbo, the introduction of VVT, solid lifters, and GTR rods, resulting in an impressive increase of about 30HP to a total of 276HP. Modifications on this example include the Blitz Front Mount Intercooler, Blitz Intake, HKS Valved Exhaust, and a GReddy Blow Off Valve, which all help to increase power and make the vehicle sound amazing. The valved exhaust can be controlled with the small cable mounted handle that sits next to the shifter. Mounted to this engine is a 5 speed manual transmission and fitted between is an Ogura Twin Disk Clutch, slightly noisy in neutral, twin disks such as this trade off high HP capability and a stock pedal feel for a light “ring” when the clutch pedal is depressed.
Inside this GTT, the driver has access to all import information in each corner, GReddy oil and water temp readings sit to your right, and the Nismo gauges showing temps, boost, and voltage readings sit to the left. A Bride driver seat hugs the occupant and will keep you in safely in place, whether you choose to throw it into the corners or bring it for a drift day at the track. Boost controls can be adjusted with the HKS EVC-S and the Blitz turbo timer help to bring temps down gently. While aftermarket parts can be found all over this example, this R34 remains well equipped with it’s features from factory, including digital climate controls, electric folding mirrors, power level adjusting headlights, and a refinished gauge cluster that stands far apart from the R32 and R33 Skylines before it.
Outside, this R34 is finished a very limited BP9, Dark Blue Pearl. With less than 4% of R34’s available in this color, and with such a distinct look, its a wonder why Nissan didn’t finish more vehicles in such an appealing color. Complimenting the dark tones of Blue Pearl, white finished Work CR Kai wheels sit in the wheel wells, a low profile rear wing is fitted to the trunk, and a simple OEM style aero kit give that authentic and iconic Modified JDM look that the 90’s were known for.
It’s not hard to see why the R34 remains a Modern JDM Classic. Keeping with the theme of inline 6’s that nearly any JDM legend is known for, and the formula of RWD, 5 speed manual, sitting in the drivers seat of the R34 chassis gives a good idea what it might’ve felt like to drive through Japan in the late 90’s. 276 HP at the press of a pedal, and with 4 door practicality, the GTT Sedan fills nearly all the criteria that a true JDM enthusiast would be looking for.
