Power Transtop model

The Honda CRX Del Sol SIR is a 2 seater targa top car manufactured by Honda. Based on the Civic model the Del Sol was the successor to the popular CRX model.  It features a removable hardtop that stows in the trunk and a retractable rear window. It locks into place on a rack built into the trunk that opens up to allow access to the cargo area even while the top is stored. This particular example is the  power “TransTop” model meaning an automated system that automatically stores the targa top into the trunk. Finding an operational power transtop model nowadays is no easy feat. However this one is fully functional and is ready to impress at car shows and meets nationwide.

Performance specifications for the Japan Domestic Market SiR give the two-seater a 0-100 km/h (62 mph) time of 7 seconds and a standing quarter mile time of 14.7 seconds. Equipped with 160hp and redlining at an impressive 8200 rpm the Del Sol is no slouch and like all Honda motors of it’s time it is extremely well built from factory. While not the fastest sports car ever built the Del Sol has so many attributes that make it a fan favorite. From it’s unique styling, impressive transtop feature to it’s top tier handling the Del Sol was a marvel for it’s time. It’s surprisingly spacious for a 2 seater car, very nimble and offers excellent fuel economy. We don’t see many 5 speed Del Sols in Japan anymore. Like many of the 90s legends they are becoming more scarce by the year. For fans of classic 90s Honda’s this will be a delight to own and will turn heads at shows and meets across the country.
