Here we have one of the first ever federally legal Mitsubishi Evolution IV ever to be imported to the United States. Produced from August 1996 until January 1998 the Evo IV was considered a huge milestone in the rally style cars produced by Mitsubishi. The Evo IV is well known to have a fierce look to match it’s performance. It features big fog lights, a sculpted hood and big air intakes in the front bumper. A massive wing was installed in the rear. There was also a specific design for the taillights which became a signature for the future Evo models. A powerful 2.0 Liter 4G63-T featuring a larger intercooler than the earlier Evo’s made this the fastest generation available at the time. The AWD system was equipped with an active center differential, named “Active Yaw Control” that could distribute the torque between the front and rear wheels. Keeping true to it’s rally roots only a 5 speed manual transmission was available in both the RS and GSR models.
This particular example is a delightful blend of oem features paired with some quality aftermarket parts. The 4G63-T engine starts up with the twist of a key and the 5 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly through each of the gears. The A/C blows ice cold and the heat blows hot.
