Suzuki launched the Cappuccino in October of 1991 for the Japanese Domestic market. Originally released as an inexpensive to own Kei-class vehicle, Suzuki branded the Cappuccino as a car that would “fulfill one’s dream of owning a stylish and very affordable 2 seater sportscar.” This particular example is the Version 2 Limited model. 1 of 1,000 in this model, and one of 1,500 in the color ever produced. Offering electronically assisted power steering, aluminum double wishbone suspension, limited fabric seating, and limited badge.
Powered by the mighty F6A 657cc DOHC three cylinder engine, the Suzuki Cappuccino is a turbocharged 2 seater convertible Kei car. Weighing a hair under 1600lbs with 50/50 weight distribution when both seats are occupied. Deceptively spacious inside, the ergonomics show just how well this car was thought out by it’s Japanese manufacturers.
One of the very few Kei class cars actually suitable for driving on US roads, at 70MPH you’re sitting at about 5000RPM with another 3500rpm in reserve. The hardtop is removable and has multiple configurations, you can have a traditional T- top, fully removed for the full targa experience, or lower the rear wrap around window to the trunk making it a standard convertible. Cleverly designed and can be configured to your preference. The F6A motor fires to life without hesitation and is mated to a silky smooth 5 speed transmission.
