The Nissan Pulsar GTi-R is an SR20DET powered AWD hatchback that was produced by Nissan to meet the requirements for entry into World Rallycross. 227hp in a lightweight AWD chassis allowed it to out perform supercars of the era. Production ran from August 1990 until November 1994. The total number produced during those 4 years was 13,842 making this a desirable and rare model. Only about 2,000 of these units sold in Japan where finished in the TJ1 color code.

The body is largely the same as the standard N14 three-door model, but distinguished by the large rear wing and bonnet scoop. It has an ATTESA all wheel drive system and a unique variant (coded 54C) of the SR20DET engine. With a power to weight ratio of 0.083 and AWD, the standard GTI-R is able to accelerate from 0-100KMH in 5.4 seconds and can cover the standing quarter mile in 13.5 seconds, and reach a top speed of 232 km/h (144 mph).

Known as “Baby Godzilla” the GTI-R is one of the most iconic sports cars of the 90s. It’s fair to say that this is one of the last of a dying breed.  With a total production of only 13,842 units ever made these have become so scarce in Japan that it’s hard to see many more of these making it to the United States. This is a very clean and mostly stock example that would provide an excellent base for it’s new owner to enjoy as it is or build exactly to their liking.
